An overcoming History

Küschall was founded in 1978 by Küschall Rainer, a swiss man that became Tetraplegic after a serious injury when he was 16. His difficulties to find a job adapted to his situation made him start his own company of wheelchairs production. That was the start of Küschall, a company with a large experience and reputation that has been producing top quality products from its beginnings and keep investing on investigating and developing the best wheelchairs in the market.

1978

Küschall of Switzerland is founded.

1985/86

Invention of the Competition wheelchair and the minimal frame design.
Rainer Küschall wins the Designer Award from the MoMA Museum of Modern Art, New York for the Competition wheelchair, which goes on show at the museum.

1986

Launch of the first küschall Champion.

1988

Opening of the company's first premises in Allschwil, Switzerland.

1992

Launch of the küschall Compact and küschall Ultra-Light folding wheelchairs.

1995

Küschall design AG joins the American Invacare Group.

1997

Relaunch of the second generation küschall Champion.

2000

Launch of the küschall K-Series, starting with the K3 and followed by the K4.

2005

Launch of the Vario-Ax, which is used to change the wheel camber angle.

2006

Launch of the suspension system for the K3 and K4.

2007

Expansion of the küschall K Series with the introduction of the Air Lite model and the titaniumcarbon Pro options.
Launch of the Fusion wheelchair.

2009

The Fusion wheelchair wins the Red Dot Design Award.
Move to the newly completed corporate headquarters in Witterswil, Switzerland.

2010

Launch of the küschall K-Junior.

2012

Launch of the küschall K-Nova, a limited edition with hundreds of Swarovski crystals.

2013

Launch of the küschall R33 and invention of the LIS Low Impact System.

2014

Relaunch of the küschall K Series with carbon frame.

2015

Launch of a limited edition küschall R33 to mark the company's 33rd anniversary.

2016

Launch of the new website.
